Smart glasses serving persons with special needs currently available in the market have two main pain points. Firstly, the design is usually bulky and intrusive. Secondly, they are expensive because of the need to use high-performance chips for the recognition function. The venture aims to develop a low-cost alternative. By utilising cloud computing and minimising the components, the weight and power consumption of the new smart glasses can be reduced. They will be equipped with microphone and camera for ambient and facial recognition, thus helping visually impaired persons interact with others and enjoy their social life.
