There is an increasing prevalence of mental health problems among youth. Students report feeling isolated, especially under the COVID-19 as social restrictions and virtual learning arrangements hinder youth from seeking support and emotional buffers.
In collaboration with schools and NGOs, the venture aims to develop a product and service to early detect and alleviate the symptoms of depression among at-risk youth by targeting negative cognitions. Care Bear, consisting of a game-based app and a customised care package, incorporates the S.M.A.R.T. (sustainable, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-based) goals framework in designing challenges. By incorporating online and physical features and through anonymous pairing of individuals with early signs of depression, the venture helps build preventive peer support networks, with the ideology of fostering resilience and mutual empowerment in times full of uncertainty.
